THE STORY
The Successful Merchant
Khadijah (RA) was a wealthy and respected merchant in Mecca. She hired honest workers to lead her caravans to faraway lands like Syria and Yemen. When she heard about Muhammad’s (ﷺ) trustworthiness, she asked him to manage her trade. Impressed by his honesty, she later proposed marriage to him!
The First Believer
When Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) received the first revelation in Cave Hira, he rushed home trembling. Khadijah (RA) wrapped him in a blanket and said, “Allah would never abandon you, for you are kind to family, honest in trade, and help the poor.” She was the first person to accept Islam, using her wealth to support the Prophet (ﷺ) and early Muslims.
Generosity in Hard Times
During the boycott of the Muslims in Mecca, Khadijah (RA) spent all her money to feed and protect the Muslim community. Even when she became poor, she said, “What I give for Allah’s sake will never be lost.”
KEY TEACHINGS
“The Prophet (ﷺ) said, ‘She believed in me when others disbelieved. She held me truthful when others called me a liar. She spent her wealth on me when others deprived me.’” (Musnad Ahmad 24864 | Authenticated by Al-Albani)
THINK & REFLECT
How did Khadijah’s (RA) generosity help Islam grow?
What can you share with others (toys, time, kindness) to follow her example?
