What is the Quran?

The Quran is the holy book of Islam, revealed in Arabic to Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) through Angel Jibreel (AS).

It contains 114 chapters (surahs), divided into verses (ayat).

Muslims recite it in prayers, memorize it, and follow its teachings.
“This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those mindful of Allah.” (Quran 2:2)

How Was the Quran Revealed?

Over 23 years, the Quran was revealed in pieces to guide people through challenges.

The first revelation was “Iqra! (Read!)” in Cave Hira (Quran 96:1).

The Prophet (ﷺ) memorized every word, and scribes wrote them on palm leaves, leather, and stones.
